È documentato che nell’agosto del 1939 Leoni (1781-1854) stesse ancora lavorando al bozzetto del Petrarca esposto nel settembre del 1843 nelle sale dell’Accademia. L’opera incontra il consenso dei fiorentini salvo per l’altezza: Leoni infatti lo dovette modificare prima della consegna, stabilita tassativamente entro il giugno del 1845 per poterlo svelare assieme al Giotto e al Cellini.
It’s proved that Leoni (1781-1854) was still working at the Petrarca’s model in the August 1939 and that he had exposed it in September 1843 in the Academy hall. The work had the Florence’s agreement a part for the height. Leoni in fact should have modified it before the end, that had been established obligatory by June 1845 in the matter to unveil Petrarca with Giotto and Cellini.
