Nel 1846 Dupré (1817-1882) si offre di realizzare il Sant’Antonino ma due anni più tardi il bozzetto non è ancora terminato e nel 1851 la Depurtazione ne blocca persino i fondi, rallentandone l’inaugurazione sino al 30 dicembre 1854. Dupré, aiutato nella sbozzatura da Tito Sarocchi, rammenta nei suoi Ricordi la “fatica improba” per conferire al Sant’Antonino la stessa naturalezza del Giotto. Il gruppo spacca la critica, tra chi non lo ritiene un pezzo all’altezza dell’autore dell’Abele e chi invece ne ammira l’espressione.
In 1846 Dupré (1817-1882) presents himself for the realisation of the Sant’Antonino’s monument but two year after the model isn’t already finished and in the 1854 the Deputation decides even to freezes the funds, so the inauguration has been retarded till 30 December 1854. Dupré, also helped in the outline by Tito Sarocchi, remembers in his “Ricordi” the “unusual fatigue” in trying to confer to the Sant’Antonino the same naturalness given to the “Giotto”. The marble group divides the critic between who thinks that it was not a piece at the same level of the “Abele” and who admires his face expression.
