Il monumento funebre allo scrittore austriaco L. Anzengruber (1839-1889) presenta un tondo in bronzo che lo ritrae di profilo e la più scenica figura femminile che ne piange la scomparsa: è ingegnosa la scelta di Scherpe - autore anche del Anzengruber a figura intera di Schmerliungplatz (1905) – di vestirla come una contadina, anzi come una delle tante eroine dello scrittore-drammaturgo: da Der Pfarrer von Kirchfeld – messa in scena nel 1871 – a Die Tochter des Wucherers del 1873.
The sepulchral monument to L. Anzengruber (1839-1889) presents a bronze profile of the Austrian writer and a more scenic female figure that is crying for his death: Scherpe - author also of the Anzengruber in entire figure in Schmerliungplatz (1905) - has the sharp idea to dress the girl as a farmer, as the writer’s heroines: from “The perjury farmer” – performed in 1871 – to “The daughter of the usurer” (1873).
