Inaugurata il 28 novembre 2007 la porta non solo si colloca sulla scia di una lunga tradizione artistica ma si confronta anche con l’eredità di un antico monastero. Da qui probabilmente l’idea della targa – volutamente ed ironicamente – all’antica, in latino. Kounellis, (1936), artista greco di nascita ma romano d’elezione, ha deciso di giocare con il vuoto e con la trasparenza ancor prima che con la materia: l’intreccio di ferro e pietre di vetro creano un sipario che permette di intravedere quanto accade all’interno dell’orto, una quinta che cambia col mutare delle stagioni, un Eden di pace animato da attori privilegiati.
The door, inaugurated on the 28 November 2007, places itself both on an old artistic tradition both on the inheritance of the antique monastery. That’s probably the reason of the plaque – ironically – in Latin language. Kounellis (1936), who was born in Greece but from a long time he has elected to live in Rome, has played with the vacuum and the transparency before than with the matter: the groove of iron and glass stones creates a curtain that allows to get a glimpse of the garden, a set that changes with the seasons, an Eden of piece.
