Il Moma del 1953, progettato da Philip Johnson, aveva un cuore di scultura a cielo aperto che Yoshio Taniguchi ha mantenuto anche nel suo esemplare piano di apliamento: così nella svettante cornice architettonica di midtown trovano spazio le forme morbide di The River di Aristide Maillol, l’ironia della Capra di Picasso (fusione del 1952), il minimalismo di Antony Caro, l’obelisco spezzato di Barnett Newman (1963-1969), il Green Blue di Ellsworth Kelly (1968) e il Cubi x David Smith (1963). The 1953 Moma by Philip Johnson had an open air sculpture heart that Yoshio Taniguchi has kept in his excellent project of enlargement, too. So in the architectonical frame of midtown The River by Aristide Maillol has its right place as the irony of the Picasso’s Goat (cast in 1952), the minimalism by Amtony Caro, the broken obelisk by Barnett Newmann (1963-1969), the Green Blue by Ellsworth Kelly (1968) and the Cubi x by David Smith (1963).
