Esempio della classica scultura
da Salon, Protezione e Avvenire è un gruppo
di Honoré Icard (1843-1917), scultore francese che a partire
dal 1875 divenne membro proprio della Société des Artistes
Français. Nel suo occhieggiare al classicismo antico, amplificato
in un gigantismo monumentale, il marmo oggi al Galliera ricorda il coevo I diritti dell’Uomo, presentato all’Esposizione
Universale di Chicago nel 1893.
Protection and Future by the French sculptor Honoré Icard (1843-1917), is the typical example
of the official sculpture showed at the Paris Salons. Icard himself became in
fact a member of the French Artist Society from 1875. The group, today at the
Galliera museum, looks at the ancient classicism but revisited in a gigantism
formula as in the The human rights,
work presented at the Universal Exhibition in Chicago in 1893.
