Marguerite Boucicaut fu una
benefattrice che seguì numerose cause umanitarie e sociali e contribuì alla
prosperità Bon Marché a cui legò il suo lascito testamentario. Non a caso
proprio di fronte al primo grande magazzino parigino sorge oggi il suo monumento
realizzato nel 1914 da
Paul
Moreau-Vauthier. Lo scultore ritrae Madame Boucicaut accanto alla baronessa
Clara de Hirsh e ai loro piedi l’allegoria della Carità.
Marguerite Boucicaut was a benefactress involved in a lot of
humanitarian and social causes and she contributed to the prosperity of the Bon
Marché till leaving it all her heritage. It’s not for chance that now she has a
monument just in front of the first grand
magasine of Paris. The sculpture was modelled in 1914 by Paul Moreau-Vauthier: he portrayed Madame
Boucicaut beside Baroness Clara de Hirsh while the allegory of Charity is
sitting on the basement.
