Inaugurato il 25 settembre 1921 il monumento a Cesare Lombroso è il risultato di una lunga riflessione da parte di L. Bistolfi che in prima istanza l’aveva schizzato attorniato dalle consuete figure femminile di ascendenza Liberty. La versione successiva, più dichiarata nell’introspezione psicologica e nel verismo, non è ben vista da tutti; c’è infatti chi la addita come una scelta penalizzante rispetto alla statura dello scienziato.
Il Museo civico di Casale Monferrato conserva due bozzetti preparatori mirabilmente schedati da Rossana Bossaglia in occasione della mostra del 1984.

The monument to Cesare Lombroso, that has unveiled on the 25 September 1921, is the result of a long reflection by L. Bistolfi who at the very beginning has sketched with the usual female Liberty figures. The definitive version, more declared in the psychological introspection and in the Verism, has not a complete agreement; there’s in fact a part of the critic that has attributed this choice as penalizing for the importance of the Scientist.
The Museo civico in Casale Monferrato conserves two models that has been commendable studied by Rossana Bossaglia in the occasion of the exposition in 1984.
