Monumento ai caduti - Aurelio Mistruzzi

1920
Bronzo
Chioggia

In the long series of monuments dedicated to the memory of the Fallen soldiers by Mistruzzi (1880-1960), not only in Veneto, this one in Chioggia is probably the most imposing, both for dimensions, setting – it has been placed on a high basement – as well as enphasis. The common iconography in fact charges itself of an unusual theatrical attitude, evident in the large deploying of the angel’s wind while he’s holding the body of the nude soldier modelled in a very rhetorical way.
