È coraggioso da parte del British dislocare al piano terreno, accanto a Fidia, alcune opere di scultori contemporanei: un confronto sulla tecnica a distanza di secoli che funziona nel contrasto. Così l’oro di Siren – dalla esili fattezze di Kate Moss – di Marc Quinn si mescola alle calde tonalità delle Nereidi, Mask II di Ron Mueck sonnecchia sotto i giganti dell’isola di Pasqua, Case fo an Angel I di Antony Gormlet accoglie i visitatori tra le sue ampie ali e Damien Hirst sbeffeggia il tema del memento mori (Cornucopia, 2008).
It’s brave by the British to place some contemporary sculptures at the ground floor, beside Fidia: a comparison on the technique after centuries that works in the contrast. In this way the golden Siren – that has the traits of Kate Moss – by Marc Quinn dialogues with the rosy marbles of the Nereidi, Mask II by Ron Mueck is slumbering under the Pasqua giants, Case fo an Angel I by Antony Gormlet greets the visitors at the entrance with his two big wings and Damien Hirst ribs the theme of the memento mori (Cornucopia, 2008).
