Lorenzo Nencini (1806-1862) è sorteggiato già nel maggio del 1837 come autore del monumento a Guido Aretino. A causa dei numerosi impegni però egli presenta il modello in creta solamente nel 1845 facendo così slittare la collocazione definitiva del marmo al 24 giugno 1847. Aretino, veste l’abito monacale benedettino, paludamento semplice e al contempo solenne, e con le sue grandi mani – forse un po’ sovradimensionate! – mostra la scala diatonica da lui inventata con le prime sillabe dell’inno a San Giovanni Battista.
Lorenzo Nencini (1806-1862) has been drawn already in May 1837 to be the author of the Guido Aretino’s monument. Because of the many commitments he was able to present the clay model only in 1845 so the final placement of the marble slides on the 24 June 1847. Aretino, wears the benedettino monk dress, a simple tunic but at the same time a solemn solution, and he’s showing with his big hands – may be a bit over-dimensioned! – the diatonic scale, his invention, with the first notes about the S.John Baptist’s hymn.
