Credo sia doveroso dare qualche ragguaglio sull’opera di Stefano Zuech scelta sia per l’invito che per la copertina: la Pietà della Pace era un grande bozzetto in gesso che Zuech realizzò su commissione di Zita d’Austria perché destinato alla Chiesa della Libertà, progetto viennese di Otto Wagner che però non vide mai la luce a causa della scomparsa del grande architetto (1917). Anche il gesso, rimasto per anni nello studio dello scultore, andò distrutto nella tremenda esondazione dell’Adige del 4 novembre 1966.
I think that it’s important do publish some notes on the Stefano Zuech’s work that has been chosen as illustration both of the invitation and both of the cover of the book: the Pietà della Pace (Piety of Piece) was a big plaster entrusted by Zita of Austria for the Church of Freedom, a project by Otto Wagner that has never been realized because of the death of the famous architect (1917). Also the plaster, that has been conserved for several years in the Zuech’s atelier in Trento, was destroyed during the terrible Adige spate on the 4 November 1966.
