Abbiamo intervistato Roberto Capucci in occasione dell'inaugurazione della mostra a lui dedicata a Palazzo Fortuny, Venezia, dal 7 Marzo al 4 Maggio 2009.
CB: Le sue creazioni sono definite abiti-scultura: non è mai stato lusingato da materiali più “plastici” del tessuto?
RC: Non tutti sono sculture. Sono emozioni che escono dalla mia mente dopo giornate intere a disegnare. E disegno in primis per ritrovare me stesso, lontano da una realtà in cui talvolta non mi riconosco: bisogna creare in uno stato di grazia.
CB: Quali sono le sue maggiori fonti d’ispirazione?
RC: In assoluto la natura, con tutti i suoi misteri, la natura è capace di miracoli. Uno stormo di uccelli in volo con i loro mille colori è già un’ispirazione. Tutto ciò che è bello mi stimola. Vengo da una formazione artistica, prima il Liceo artistico poi l’Accademia di Belle Arti, vivo a Roma e cerco il bello ovunque: entro nelle chiese, nei musei più e più volte. Vedere il bello aiuta.
CB: Forse vedere anche una gorgiera del Seicento nel suo caso?
RC: È vero ma non entro in un museo con un blocco e copio; cerco suggestioni, suggerimenti.
CB: Le sue creazioni hanno una forza vitale e una presenza scenica che animano il luogo che le ospita: quale il rapporto con palazzo Fortuny?
RC: Le opere sono state selezionate appositamente da Daniela Ferretti che è stata da me a Roma e ha scelto quelle che meglio si addicevano al luogo.
CB: Ricordo la sua mostra al teatro della Pilotta a Parma dove gli abiti erano gli spettatori e al contempo lo spettacolo in scena.
RC: L’ha vista? Si era splendida! Sono sempre attento al contesto. Facemmo a Roma una grande mostra a Palazzo Colonna in cui gli abiti erano i protagonisti di una grande festa nel salone da ballo; ora invece farò una mostra a Basilea in cui la scelta è caduta solo su pezzi estremamente geometrici, in linea con la collezione e l’architettura del museo d’arte moderna.
We interviewed Roberto Capucci at the opening of the exhibition dedicated to him at Palazzo Fortuny, Venice, from March, 7th to May, 4th 2009.
CB: Your creations are defined sculpture-dresses: have you even been seduced by other materials, more “plastic” than the stuff?
RC: They are not all sculptures. They are emotions that come from my mind; I spend all my day drawing. And I draw in primis to find myself, far from a reality in which sometimes I don’t recognize me: I have to create in a state of grace.
CB: What are your principal sources of inspiration?
RC: Absolutely nature, with all its mysteries, nature is capable of miracles. A flock of birds of thousands of colours is already an inspiration. Beauty is a stimulus. I come from an artistic formation, the Liceo and then the Academy, I live in Rome where I look everywhere for the beauty: I enter in churches or museums, more and more times. To admire the beauty help me.
CB: Maybe also see a gorgiera could has helped you?
RC: It is true but I don’t enter in a museum with a block note to copy; I’m looking for suggestions, hints
CB: Your creations have a vital power a scenic presence that enlivens the space that hosts them: what’s the relation with Fortuny Palace?
RC: The works have been selected in Rome by Daniela Ferretti specifically for this space.
CB: I remember your exhibition in the Pilotta Theatre in the Pilotta where the dresses were at the same time the spectators and the show.
RC: Have you seen that? It was superb! I always pay attention to the context. We realized a great exhibition in Palazzo Colonna in Rome where the dresses were the protagonist of a party in the dance hall. Now in Basilea the Museum has picked only geometrical dresses in the line with the museum collection itself.
