La splendida dimora di Frederic Leighton (1830-1896) dice molto delle passioni, del gusto e dell’universo visivo nel quale si formano non solo la pittura ma anche la scultura di Leighton, autore del celebre Atleta in lotta col pitone.

The gorgeous dwelling of Frederic Leighton (1830-1896) says a lot about passions, taste and the visual universe in which he has formed not only the language of his painting but also of his sculpture. He’s in fact the author of the famous Athlete wrestling with a python.

La scultura, commissionata dalla stessa Fondazione Cartier, s’integra spontaneamente con il giardino creato da Lothar Baumgarten. L’opera esemplifica la ricerca di Giuseppe Penone che intende “rivelare l’immagine latente nella natura”.

The sculpture, commanded by the Cartier Foundation, is naturally integrated in the garden created by Lothar Baumgarten. The work shows the Giuseppe Penone’s research who wanted to “reveal the hidden image inside nature”.
